Thanksgiving is around the corner and for most of us that means family gatherings, lots of food and alcoholic beverages. Chances are that someone in your gathering is trying to make positive changes to their health. Here are some tips on how you can help to support that person through the holidays.
Tip #1- Bring a salad or a vegetable dish. Veggies have a reputation for being bland and boring and often omitted in festivity meals. Be the person who brings the veggies! Get creative with recipes to stir up some excitement around them. Try this website for lots of great ideas.
Tip #2- Get active. Plan to attend an event prior to the big gathering, meet at the park with the kids or even go for a post-meal walk. The fresh air and activity will help you feel energized and help burn a little more calories for the day.
Tip #3- Offer up some non-alcoholic beverages such as “mocktails” or sparkling water. Go one step further and share this drink too in support of your friend.
